CORY FAMILY

1. HENRY CURRY was my great x6 grandfather. He married Mary Hensley at Crowan on 11th November 1751. They had a son, Henry.

2. HENRY CORY was born in 1752, in Crowan. He married Ann Bastard on 20th May 1782 in Crowan. Ann was born in May 1758 and died in 1828. They had the following children :

1. Mary (bp. 1st Sept 1782) m. Matthew Rodda

2. Henry (bp. 8th Feb 1784, died. 1847) m. Mary Ralph

3. John (bp. 15th Jan 1786, died. 1810), aged 24.

4. William (b. 1789, bur. November 1843), aged 54.

5. Thomas (bp. 3rd July 1791, died. 1867) m. Mary Trewheela in 1816. Had 9 Children.

6. Hannah (bp. 20th Oct 1793) m. William Orchard in 1818. Had 4 Children.

7. Richard (bp. 1st Feb 1798, died. 1799)

8. Margery (bp. 31st Oct 1799) m. Thomas Williams in 1826. Had 3 Children.

3. WILLIAM CORY was born in 1789, and was my great x4 grandfather. He married Grace Bartle in 1817, Grace was from St. Erth, the daughter of William Bartle and Grace Ralph. They married in St. Erth and had the following children :

1. Hannah (b. 1820)

2. Henry (1823-54), aged 31.

3. William (1826-62), aged 36.

4. Grace (b. 1828)

5. Richard (b. 1831)

6. John (b. 1834)

7. Ann (b. 1836)

8. Thomas (1840-1898), aged 58.

William passed away in November 1843, at Gwinear, due to consumption. He was listed as a miner on his death certificate, aged 54. His son Henry was witness for the death certificate.

4. THOMAS CORY was born on 16th February 1840, the youngest of eight children to William and Grace. He lost his father when he was 3, due to consumption. He married Mary Knight, who was born in 1837. They had the following children :

1. Eliza (b. abt 1869)

2. Thomas Henry (1871-1904), aged 33.

3. John (Feb-Oct 1877), aged 8mths.

On the 1871 census, Thomas and Mary are living on their own, I assume having recently married. The 1881 census shows them with their daughter Eliza (aged 12), and son Thomas Henry. The 1891 census shows them living at Treslothan with their son Thomas Henry (aged 19). Mary passed away on 19th December 1891, when she was 54. Thomas followed her on 23rd December 1898, agec 58.

Both are buried in Treslothan churchyard.

5. THOMAS HENRY CORY was born in 1871. He married Martha Towan Dunstan on 30th July 1896. She had been born on 19th May 1872, the daughter of Wearne Dunstan and Susan Ann Towan. They had the following children :

1. Harry (1896-1987), aged 90.

2. Wearne Dunstan (1898), baby death.

3. Wearne Dunstan (1899-1987), aged 87.

4. Florence Mary (1901-1982), aged 80.

5. Thomas Percival 'Percy' (1904-1992), aged 88.

Thomas died in December 1904, aged just 33. Martha was left a 32-year-old widow with four children, aged 8, 4, 3 and a baby. She remarried to a Mr. Soloman Tregear and had another two children, Arthur Stanley (1909-84) and Olive Mary (1913-6). Martha died on 4th October 1938, aged 66.

6. WEARNE DUNSTAN CORY was born on 16th December 1899 at Treslothan. His father died when he was 4 and his mother remarried soon after. Wearne was named after an elder brother that died as a baby. He married Margaret Joyce Bray on 29th June 1929 in Whitchurch, Devon (don't know why they married there?). Joyce was born on 4th December 1904 in Camborne, the daughter of Richard James Bray and Bessie Wills. They had the following children :

1. Trevor Wearne (1931-2001), aged 70.

2. John Romilly (1932-2002), aged 69.

Joyce suffered from lung cancer during her later years, which resulted in her death on 24th May 1974, aged 69. Wearne survived her by thirteen years. He would spent his time either in Cornwall or living with his son Trevor in Australia. He passed away in Cornwall on 26th June 1987, aged 87.

7. JOHN ROMILLY CORY was born on 11th November 1932 in Camborne. He married Marlene Bennett Pellow on 10th November 1956 and had the following children :

1. Nicholas John (b. 1958)

2. Timothy Ian (b. 1960)

John passed away on 1st October 2002, aged 69.

8. TIMOTHY IAN CORY was born on 30th May 1960, in Redruth. He moved up to London with his brother and parents in 1974, where he met and married Angela Bates, on 26th October 1985. They had the following children :

1. Thomas James (b. 1988)

2. Anna Florence (b. 1990)

3. Helena Ruth (b. 1993)

9. THOMAS JAMES CORY was born on 15th March 1988.
